Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important official commented the incident left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
