19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after spring of 2023.
Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent rescued four initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
